Cupsie’s Creations is an independent greeting card and gift brand created by illustrator Charlotte Rowlands.

What started as a little creative hobby in 2021 has grown into a busy family business, with Charlotte’s designs finding their way to customers across the UK and beyond.

Behind every Cupsie’s design is one person, one iPad and usually far too many ideas waiting to be drawn.

Meet Charlotte – Designer, Illustrator & Owner

Hi, I’m Charlotte 👋🏻

I’m the designer and illustrator behind 100% of the artwork at Cupsie’s Creations.

I started Cupsie’s in 2021 while I was a stay-at-home mum to our two girls. Drawing had always been something I loved, and creating cards in the evenings gave me a creative outlet of my own — with the hope of earning a little extra money along the way.

Somehow, that little hobby grew into the business you see today.

I still draw every design myself, from the first rough idea and terrible little sketch through to the finished illustration. My favourite designs are usually the ones that make me laugh while I’m drawing them — especially the slightly ridiculous animals, relatable relationship jokes and cards inspired by everyday life.

Being able to turn something I genuinely love doing into my own business still feels pretty special, and every order means I get to keep doing exactly that. 💜

Meet Michael – Free Labour & General Problem Solver

Hi, I’m Michael 👋🏻

I’m Charlotte’s husband and the unofficial tech, admin and problem-solving department at Cupsie’s Creations.

Cupsie’s is Charlotte’s business and every design is completely hers. I just help out behind the scenes when I can, whether that’s website work, spreadsheets, accounts, formatting or dealing with whatever technical problem has appeared that week.

My main aim is to take some of the boring stuff off Charlotte’s plate so she has more time to draw.

I used to spend my spare time playing video games.

Now I apparently optimise greeting card collections for Google.

Living the dream.

How Cupsie’s Creations Began

Cupsie’s Creations started in April 2021 as a small creative project from our family home in South Yorkshire.

Charlotte wanted somewhere to sell her illustrations while doing something creative for herself around family life. Greeting cards seemed like the perfect fit: small pieces of artwork that could make somebody laugh, celebrate a big moment or simply let someone know they were being thought about.

The first designs were created at home and uploaded online with no grand plan for where the business might lead.

Since then, Cupsie’s has grown far beyond anything we expected when it began.

The range now includes hundreds of original designs covering birthdays, relationships, animals, milestone ages, weddings, congratulations, seasonal occasions and plenty of slightly questionable humour.

But one thing hasn’t changed:

Every design still starts with Charlotte.

Why “Cupsie’s”?

The name Cupsie’s Creations was dreamed up by Charlotte when the business started.

“Cupsie’s” was inspired by a combination of her maiden name and her love of cupcakes.

That’s genuinely as complicated as the story gets.

Sadly, after all these years, we still don’t sell actual cupcakes.

We apologise for the misleading branding.

Made With Personality

We don’t want Cupsie’s cards to feel like the same generic cards you can find everywhere else.

Charlotte’s ranges cover everything from cute and colourful illustrations to sarcastic relationship humour, ridiculous animals, anime-inspired designs and cards based on those strangely specific moments that make you think:

“Yep. That’s exactly the card I need for them.”

All of our artwork is originally illustrated by Charlotte in South Yorkshire, and our greeting cards are professionally printed in the UK.

Whether you’re looking for something sweet, funny, rude, weird or wonderfully specific, we hope you find a design that feels made for the person you’re buying it for.

Charlotte has also created designs for Funky Pigeon, with a growing selection of Cupsie’s artwork available through one of the UK’s best-known greeting card retailers.

Seeing designs that started life on Charlotte’s iPad appearing on a major greeting card website still feels slightly surreal.
