How We Started Selling Greeting Cards Online
Hello, I’m Charlotte, the owner and creator of Cupsie’s Creations and this is the story behind the brand.
I have always been a lover of arts, crafts and designing things as a hobby and then giving my creations to family and friends as birthday or Christmas presents. These gifts could be anything from hand-drawn greetings cards, felt and wood made letters inside deep picture frames for nurseries to hand sewn dolls and figures. I even tried the art of pyrography for Christmas one year!
It wasn’t until Christmas of 2015 that I developed my love for digital art and illustration. I remember that Christmas well, my now Husband Michael surprised me for the first time ever when he bought me a gift that I didn’t have to ask him for! This was a Huion H610 Pro Graphics Tablet from Amazon that I could connect to my PC and draw on. At first, I was sceptical as I usually drew with pen and paper, with this tablet I was drawing on my desk but it appeared on my PC monitor, I’m not going to lie it took some getting used to. But I stuck with it, and it turned out to be the best present Father Christmas ever brought me!
Fast forwarding on a few years, in late 2018 we had our first child and I quit my 9 to 5 job as an accounts administrative assistant to become a full time stay at home Mum. I continued my digital art work in the evenings whilst my Daughter slept as a way to relax from all the stresses of the day. After all, there is only so much children’s TV one can endure.
In 2020 I became pregnant with our second child, and I knew at this point I never wanted to return to the office working a regular 9 to 5 job, especially with the dreaded covid-19 still around. At this point Michael suggested we tried selling some of my art online, through print on demand websites. So along with the birth of our second daughter, was also the birth of Cupsie’s Creations!
At first we tried lots of different print on demand websites that are popular such as RedBubble and TeePublic, but it wasn’t until our friend told us about the Thortful advert he had seen on TV for Mother’s Day 2021, this is when we really found our niche. Since becoming a creator on Thortful.com we have never looked back.
